I once heard a designer introduce themselves as the person who “makes things pretty,” a grand underselling statement but many think design is all about just that, making it pretty. They judge design by the same criteria: it must be good design because it looks good but the real heavy lifting of design is what the pretty is built on. Does the logo, brochure, poster, animation, video, or social post get the job done? Getting a message noticed or developing and getting a product on the market requires more than a fun font and pretty packaging. Does it hit the target it is aimed at? We are tasked with making it look good and making it work. After all, a cake is more than icing.

There is a lot to explore in this portfolio, but I am hoping that as you look through it you will find that the pieces hit the target and do so with a fair amount of pretty.

I have been working in the industry in various capacities for many years. I have worked for ad agencies, print publications, and in print shops. Designed t-shirts, site signage, marketing materials of all kinds, logos, brochures, posters, banners, illustration, and animations. I have experience in wrapping buses, billboards and booklets big and small.

Since 2010 I have been working with the Alaska Department of Health and its many divisions and projects producing social media campaigns. These often spill over to include bus signs, animated spots, broadcast, and printed materials such as flyers and posters. One recent campaign for Medicaid Renewals incorporated direct mail, bus signs, both interior and exterior, animated airport displays, posters translated into various languages, animated broadcast, and social media.

Below is an abbreviated version of my resume. Not everything is listed, just a few highlights.
